About Me

Mr. Smith has been teaching various levels of music in the Methuen Public Schools for 18 years. He is currently the band director at the Comprehensive Grammar School where he has been teaching instrumental music to students in grades 5 through 8 for the past 8 years.

Mr. Smith graduated from Haverhill High School in 1996, received his B.M.Ed. from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell in 2002 and a M.M.Ed from Gordon College in 2009. His principle instrument is the trumpet which he has been playing professionally for 25 years. Mr. Smith also teaches private lessons at Music Workshop located in Salem, NH.

Over the past 8 years, Mr. Smith has rebuilt the CGS band program from the bottom up including increasing enrollment by 30%, maintaining an open line of communication with parents and maintaining the overall musical integrity of the program by ensuring students are performing developmentally appropriate material. Students perform several concerts throughout the year including the district-wide band jamboree.

Mr. Smith and his family enjoy their time together in rural Central Mass where he has lived for 7 years
